North vs. South

Many individuals flock to the South in the hopes of finding lower rents. The Northern states have a reputation for having higher rents than in the South, as well as a higher cost of living. Keep in mind that it is possible to find affordable rents in just about any state in the country. The key is to do your research and dig to find reasonably priced gems among their more costly counterparts. You may, however, find lower rents in certain parts of the South. By doing your research, you could end up sharing a luxury apartment with a roommate in the South, for a rent that could only secure a studio apartment in the North.
