Large cities are likely to have higher rental rates, so consider moving outside of the city a little bit to save on real estate costs. To save more money, consider finding a roommate in a suburban or even rural area close to the city. Fortunately in some states, you can find a lower cost roommate situation within a 15-minute commute to a major city.
